Sandra TTG - Assistive Technology Top Picks


As a neurodivergent person herself, Sandra has used countless hard and software products to help assist her with many different tasks over the years. Having to use these has not deterred her at all, in fact, the newspaper article you see if when The European Foundation For Black Women in Business gave Sandra Fox the award for 'social and humanitarian work within the community' for her work with Tapin Computers where she supported the learning of those with disabilities, as she still does now.

In an effort to help indirectly, Sandra has created a list of her recommended products, which include links directly to their site for you to look at and consider. Sandra is a great example of how far you can go as a neurodivergent person, and how these products can support you doing that.

Robot AV1

AV1 is a telepresence robot that ensures no student misses a class, break time or conversation with friends. It is more than remote learning - it is the next best thing to being there in person. The AV1 robot has a camera, microphone and speaker. It sits on the student's desk and through an app they can see, hear and speak through it.

C-Pen Reader 2

C-Pen Reader 2 is perfect for children who have reading difficulties such as dyslexia or children with English as second language. There is no software required, just connect the pen up to a computer with a USB cable and it appears as an external hard-drive. Other features include a built-in voice recorder with playback. Compatible with both Mac and PC's.

OrCam

OrCam Read assists people who have certain levels of visual impairment, a wide range of difficulties including dyslexia and reading fatigue. OrCam Read requires the user to be able to hear with or without. The device can be easily used to read any kind of printed or digital text, at home, in the office or on the go.
